The Taunus, a recreational forest area, the Opel Zoo and the Taunus Wunderland, a fun and entertainment park, are just a few miles from the hotel. The historic Palais was built in 1905 and has been used as a hotel almost ever since. During the first few years, it was one of the finest properties of its time, richly decorated with marble walls, fine antiques and elaborate paintings and chandeliers. During World War II, the hotel suffered no damage, so the US forces decided to use the hotel as its press headquarters for the Frankfurt region for 12 years. In 1957, the hotel was red and was managed as a family hotel for another decade. 1996 the hotel has been fully renovated. In summer 2003 100 rooms of the business wing have been completely refurbished and equipped with new, high-quality design. Those rooms feature large plasma tv screens, Maplewood décor, modern lightin and every desirable amenity. The Art Nouveau rooms in the historical Palais impress through their high ceilings and well-chosen furniture. Guestrooms & Suites : Le Meridien Parkhotel Frankfurt started life as a historic Palais, built in 1905. A new wing was built in 1970 and all rooms were renovated in 1996. In Summer 2003 100 rooms of the Business-wing have been fully refurbished and now shine in a modern Art & Tech style.
