The Roxburghe Hotel is one of Scotland's finest country house hotels, set in 500 acres wood and Parkland in the Scottish Borders. The Roxburghe has a relaxed, home from home atmosphere, which guests find particularly welcoming and has earned a reputation for reaqlly good Scottish food and outstanding service. The Roxburghe was acquired by the Duke of Roxburghe in 1969. Much of its old character has beem preserved, combining traditional elegance with high standars of comfort.
Accomodation features: The 22 luxurious bedrooms are furnished with great charm and character. Each room has its own distinctive features and shows the personal touch of the Duchess of Roxburghe, an experienced interior designer. Withlog fires, daily newspapers, and room service provided, all of the rooms are en suite and cater for your every need. The Roxburghe has everything from elegant four-poster suite to converted stable rooms, and all are equipped with bathrooms, hairdryer, bathrobes, satellite TV, radio, direct dial telephon, tea and coffee making facilities, and rooms for handicap guests.
Dining: The Roxburghe has earned a reputation for excellent award-winning Scottish cuisine using home grown produce from the Roxburghe Estate such as the finest Tweed salmon, game, and freshly picked herbs from the garden. The hotel also has a comprehensivewine list to accompany your meal, and afterwards why not retired to the lounge and enjoy a malt whisky by the fire. Lunch is available in "The Library Bar" and dinner in the restaurant or, if you are looking for something lighter, there is the Spike Bar in the Club House.
Sports and Wellness: The Golf Course designed by Dave Thomas to follow the natural contours and features of the Roxburghe Estate, is the onlay championship course in the Scottish Borders. There are a wide variety of sportung activities available from fishing on the private beats or on stocked trout pond, to clay pigeon shooting, falconry, tennis, archery, horseback riding, off road driving, quad biking, cycling and croquet, or enjoy the health and beauty club.
Leisure activities: Have a stroll round Kelso, home of some of the finest historical attractions in Scotland. Visit the Abbey or have a tour round Floos Castle (entry is free to all hotel residents), part of the Roxburghe Estate. It is the largest inhabited castle in the country and boasts some beautiful paintings and tapestries.
