The Lake Maggiore (Lago Maggiore) is located in the northern part of Italy on the borders of Switzerland, Lombardy and Piedmont and close to the alps.
Stresa is an international tourist resort situated in a central but also panoramic and picturesque position along the lakeside roadway, just in front of the Borromeo Islands with the famous Isola Bella. First built in 1632, the palace and the gardens of Isola Bella are the most important attraction of Lake Maggore. The slopes of the nearby Monte Mottarone offer 25 kiloneters of ski runs and a Italian ski school. You can reach the Monte Mottarone with the cable railway. Many Italian and Swiss ski resort can be reached by car or train from from Stresa.
