The deluxe-hotel Villa La Massa is a fascinating Medici dwelling of the 16th century on the outskirts of Florence. In 1948 it was turned into a hotel and continues with its five hundred years of history, to tell us tales of Renaissance splendour and the lifestyle of Florentine aristocrats. The 10 hectares of parkland, once a peach orchard and olive grove, are now allto the guests. The olive trees, fruit trees, vegetable garden with its herbs, and the banks of the Arno are an ideal setting for pleasant strolls. The garden products are picked and expertly prepared to be presented to the guests of the Villa by the cooks of the hotel restaurant "Il Verrocchio".
In the western part of the villa gardens there is a small chapel with a sacristy, dating back to the times of the Rinuccini, that can hold up a maximum of twenty-five people. Here it is possible to celebrate Catholic Mass and Weddings in an atmosphere of great charm.
Three Villas, dating back to the days of the Medici (16th century): the Noble Villa (Villa Nobile), the Old Oil Mill (Vecchio Frantoio) and the Little Villa (Villina) comprise the complex of Villa La Massa which, from an ancient dwelling of the aristocracy, was turned into a hotel in 1948. From its XVIIth century period furniture, refined decoration and inspired Tuscany cuisine to its superb cellar with its excellent regional vintages, it offers all the ingredients for an idyllic stay. Guestrooms & Suites : The Villa La Massa offers its guests 32 guestrooms and 5 suites, all different from one another, and all recently refurbished in the traditional Florentine style. Spacious and airy rooms are filled with antique furniture, fabrics have been woven at the historic Florentine textile mills, wrought iron and woodwork from the famous old-time Florence cabinet makers are found in the bedrooms and their sitting rooms. Bathrooms and their fittings are done in a style reflecting the atmosphere of times gone and are fitted with Cararra marble. Many have windows framing the beautiful Tuscan landscape.
All bathrooms are spacious and luminous. The colours of marble chosen are inspired by the green shades of the olive leaves and the earthy yellow of sienna. The marble has been installed by the experts from Massa Carrara to produce a lovely effect with their uninterrupted flow of veins. All the fittings were created specifically for the hotel. Each bathroom is supplied with double washbasins, WC, bidet, a power shower and deep soaking tub.
All rooms and Suites are equipped with air conditioning, writing desk, two lines telephones, modem line, satellite TV, radio, minibar, safe and marble bathroom with bathtub/shower, hairdryer, toiletries, bathrobes and slippers.

The Single Rooms are nicely decorated and newly refurbished with antique furniture. These rooms overlook the gardens. Maximum occupancy 1 adult.
The romantic Superior Rooms are uniqueley decorated with view of the flowered gardens. These spacious rooms offer a separate wardrobe. Maximum occupancy 2 adults.
Scattered throughout the three buildings, the Deluxe Rooms overlook the River Arno and the gardens. Every bathroom has at least one window with a view. Some of the bedrooms have canopy beds with wrought iron bedsteads. These very spacious rooms offer a walk-in wardrobe. The average size for this category of rooms goes from 35 to 40 square meters. Maximum occupancy 3 adults.
Distributed over the three buildings, the Junior Suites overlook the Arno river and the gardens. Every bathroom has at least one window with a view. Some of the bedrooms have canopy bedsteads. These very spacious accommodations have been newly decorated and refurbished. The average size goes from 40 to 45 square meters. Maximum occupancy 3 adults.
Overlook the Arno River and the gardens, the Suites may be found in each building. The bedroom and the sitting room are nicely proportioned and divided by the bathroom and corridor. Every bathroom has at least one window with a view. Some of the bedrooms have canopy bedsteads. These suites offer views of the River Arno or the beautiful flowered gardens. The average size ranges from 40 to 45 square meters. Maximum occupancy 3 adults.
Located in the ancient Oil Mill, the Terrace Suites are comprised of a sitting area, bedroom, and a balcony with a view over the hills and the River Arno. The size of these rooms varies from 45 to 60 square meters. Maximum occupancy 3 adults.

Cuisine & Cocktails : After spending 25 years at Villa D'Este, Executive Chef Andrea Quagliarella, now presides over the cooking at Villa La Massa with great enthusiasm. The menus include both Tuscan regional specialities and Mediterranean specialities, thus offering a broad choice daily. The sommeliers have chosen up to 400 labels among those that best represent the Italian wine selections, with a special focus on Tuscan wines. Attention is focused on the use of organic products and all the foodstuffs purchased are of absolute prime quality.

The restaurant Il Verrocchio consists of an indoor dining-hall, beneath a vaulted ceiling supported by two ancient stone columns, and a terrace overlooking the Arno with a view onto the famous Rufina hills. For lunch and dinner the menus propose a choice of both national and regional dishes, prepared with the talent and care that are the Chefs specialties. A special menu has been specially created for children to satisfy their demands.
Situated in the Noble Villa, in two rooms decorated with mid-19th century frescos, the Medicean Bar offers a wide selection of grappe (Italian eau-de-vie), whiskies, brandies and cocktails.
The Pool Bar offers a selection of light snacks for informal lunches and isduring summer months conveniently located near the swimming-pool with a view of the Arno.
The Cellar is situated in the Old Oil Mill beneath the Restaurant "Il Verrocchio", filled with charm and atmosphere of old Tuscan cellars, this is the ideal place for tasting, on request, wines, cheeses, hams and salamis and for organizing private dinners or suppers with sampling menus accompanied by Tuscan wines.

Leisure & Wellness : Villa La Massa has a heated swimming pool, exclusively for guests, situated next to its restaurant "Il Verrocchio". In summer the Pool Bar offers an ideal menu for light lunches beside the pool. The swimming pool isevery day during the summer months.
