Barbados is the most eastern island in the Caribbean, and is a tiny dot on most world maps with an area of 430 square kilometres. Barbados has a population of about 260,000 - which is quite high considering its size. With 97 kilometres of coastline, Barbados has much to offer its visitors in terms of water sports and beach activities. The island is 34 kilometres long by 22 kilometres wide, and the highest point, Mount Hillaby, is just 373 metres and is located near the centre of the island and just west west of the breathtaking Scotland district. This dramatically rugged area comprises about one sixth of the island and meets the Atlantic in the northeast of the island. Bridgetown, originally called "Indian Bridge", is the capital and commercial centre of Barbados, with about 80,000 inhabitants. In the 1930s, Sir Edward Cunard, of the famed Cunard Shipping line, acquired the property and built the Great House, which played host to many members of the British aristocracy and celebrities of the era. Today, The Fairmont Glitter Bay still captures that style of gracious living. The gardens have flourished and the magnificent Beach House is still there, complete with a number of luxuries, while the Great House contains the Reception and Concierge areas, the health club and administration offices.

Guestrooms & Suites : The Fairmont Glitter Bay offers 71 luxurious guestrooms and suites. Nestled in a lush coconut grove oasis overlooking the Caribbean Sea, your very own piece of heaven awaits you. Rooms have views of the lush gardens, the tropical pool area or the ocean.

• The Fairmont Deluxe Rooms have a size of 46 squaremetres (500 square feet) and they are equipped either with one king-size bed or on request two twin-size beds. They are spacious airy rooms decorated in muted tropical tones. Rooms have a full bathroom (including bidet) wicker armchairs, armoire and mini-bar and they offer garden and pool view, some have ocean view. These rooms can accommodate up to two adults and one child.
• The One-Bedroom Suites have a size of 74 squaremetres (800 square feet) and they are equipped either with one king-Size bed or two twin-size beds. These rooms offer garden or pool view. The One-Bedroom Suites offer a carpeted bedroom with air-conditioning and/or ceiling fan, a kitchenette, full bathroom (with bidet), living room with ceiling fan only and a spacious balcony with seating. This suite can accommodate up to three adults, or two adults and two children under 12 years.
• The Two-Bedroom Suites have a size of 121 squaremetres (1,300 square feet) and they are equipped with one king-size bed in the master bedroom and two twin-size beds in the second bedroom. These suites offer garden or pool view. The Two-Bedroom Suites offer two carpeted bedrooms with air-conditioning and/or ceiling fans, a kitchenette, two full bathrooms (one en-suite), living room with ceiling fan only and a spacious balcony with seating. These luxurious suites offer two carpeted bedrooms with air-conditioning and ceiling fan upstairs, and a kitchen, living room with a mini-bar and ceiling fans downstairs (no air-conditioning on lower level). Each bedroom has its own bathroom and private balcony. These Penthouse suites offer ocean, pool or garden view, depending on availabilitiy at the time of check-in. Theair dining area has a table and chairs on the terrace or balcony. This beautiful suite can accommodate a maximum of 5 adults or 4 adults and two children.
• The Three-Bedroom Penthouse Suites have a size of 204 squaremetres (2,200 square feet) and they are equipped with one king-size bed in the master bedroom, two twin-size beds in the second bedroom and one king-size bed or two twin-size beds in the third bedroom. The Three-Bedroom Penthouse Suite is comprised of a Two-Bedroom Penthouse Suite and an adjoining Fairmont Deluxe Room. Rooms are joined via double doors in the living room and by interconnecting balconies. Split level in design, the second level offers two bedrooms, each with a spacious private balcony, private bathroom, mini-bar, air-conditioning and ceiling fans. The living room,air dining area, kitchen and the third bedroom are on the lower level. These suites offer ocean or pool and garden views, depending on availability at the time of check-in. Three-Bedroom Suites can accommodate a maximum of 7 adults or 6 adults and 2 children.

• The Clarence Suite has a size of 44 square metres (475 square feet) and is equipped with one king-size bed or two twin-size beds. Located on the ground floor of the Beach House, the Clarence Suite is oceanfront with a terrace overlooking the white sandy beach and the ocan. The large luxurious bedroom has air-conditioning, ceiling fans and a mini-bar. There is a large bathroom with white-tiled floors and walls with bright marble-tiled accents. • The Sir Edward Suite has a size 56 square metres (600 square feet) and is equipped with one king-size bed or on request with two twin-size beds. The Sir Edward Suite is located on the ground level of the Beach House and offers ocean view. The Marquis Suite is located on the upper floor of the Beach House and offer ocean view.
