Barbados is the most eastern island in the Caribbean, and is a tiny dot on most world maps with an area of 430 square kilometres. Barbados has a population of about 260,000 - which is quite high considering its size. With 97 kilometres of coastline, Barbados has much to offer its visitors in terms of water sports and beach activities. The island is 34 kilometres long by 22 kilometres wide, and the highest point, Mount Hillaby, is just 373 metres and is located near the centre of the island and just west west of the breathtaking Scotland district. This dramatically rugged area comprises about one sixth of the island and meets the Atlantic in the northeast of the island. This is a clay area with jutting rocky spikes and ridges, and of course, breathtaking views. Bridgetown, originally called "Indian Bridge", is the capital and commercial centre of Barbados, with about 80,000 inhabitants. It is a busy port with a natural harbour inlet, known as the Careenage, and is well utilised by pleasure craft and fishing boats.
The family-owned and managed Coral Reef Club is situated in 12 acres of tropical gardens on a long white sandy beach on the sheltered west coast of Barbados. A recently carried out extensive refurbishment enhances the unique qualities of this cottage style resort. Five special Plantation Suites have been added, each with its own plunge pool, to provide the ultimate luxury in a traditional Caribbean style. Guestrooms & Suites : The lovely and spacious Coral Reef Club contains just 88 rooms, cottages and suites which are set amidst the beautiful gardens spread across 12 acres of land. All guestrooms, junior suites, suites and villas are individually decorated and equipped with air conditioning, ceiling fans, alarm clock radio, television on request USD 75 per week, direct dial telephone, iron with ironing board, minibar, in-room safe and bathroom with hairdryer and bathrobes. - The four Single Garden Rooms are not so large as double rooms and they are equipped with one double bed. These rooms offer air conditioning, private bathroom and patio or balcony with garden view and they only can accommodate one adult.
- The Garden Rooms and Cottages are equipped with one king-size bed or two twin-size beds, air conditioning, ceiling fan, safe, refrigerator and patio or balcony and they offer garden view. The bathroom is equipped with a bathtub and shower. These rooms and cottages can accommodate two adults.
- The Superior Junior Suites are equipped with one king-size bed or two twin-size beds. These Junior Suites feature a sitting area within the bedroom and a large patio or balcony and they offer garden view. The bathroom is equipped with a bathtub and separate shower. These Suites can accommodate two adults.
- The Luxury Junior Suites are equipped with one king-size bed or two twin-size beds. These Junior Suites feature a sitting area within the bedroom and a large patio or balcony and they are located in the front half of the property leading towards the sea. The bathroom is equipped with a bathtub and separate shower. These Suites can accommodate two adults.
- The Luxury Cottages are located on the ground floor. These air-conditioned cottages constist of a bedroom with one king-size bed or two twin-size beds, a dressing area, a separate air-conditioned living room with sofa bed, wrap around balcony and private plunge pool and they are located in the front half of the property leading towards the sea. The bathroom offers a bathtub and separate shower. These cottages can accommodate either three adults or two adults and two children.
- The Luxury Suites are on the first floor. These air-conditioned suites constist of a bedroom with one king-size bed or two twin-size beds, a dressing area, a separate air-conditioned living room with sofa bed, wrap around balcony and private plunge pool and they are located in the front half of the property leading towards the sea. The bathroom offers a bathtub and separate shower. These suites can accommodate either three adults or two adults and two children.
- The Tamarind Villa is situated in the gardens next to a shared swimming pool. This villa has two double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and two singles. It also has a kitchen, spacious living room and large terrace with chaise lounges and dining area leading to a large private lawn.
- The Ixora Villa is situated in the gardens next to a shared swimming pool. This villa has a luxurious Master Suite with private patio and large air-conditioned bathroom with separate bath and shower. It also has two double bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and a single room with en suite shower room. This villa also has a kitchen, spacious living room with television, video player, CD player and a large terrace with chaise lounges and dining area leading to a large private lawn.
- The five Luxury Plantation Suites are very luxurious accommodations. They consist of a bedroom with a four poster or canopied bed, very spacious living room, a dressing area and a large bathroom with a big walk-in shower and separate tub - all air-conditioned. There is a large covered terrace andsundeck area with a pool which is 12 feet long and 9 feet wide. Featured in the living room is a fax machine, television, video player, CD player and a selection of CDs and videos. There is also a complimentary starter bar. These suites have views of the sea and accommodate two adults. Three of these suites have king size beds and two can convert from king to twin beds, if required.
- Two Bedroom Accommodation are available as combination of two Garden Rooms/Cottages, one Superior Junior Suite and one Garden Room, two Luxury Junior Suites or two Luxury Cottages/Suites.
Cuisine & Cocktails : The Coral Reef Club offers a restaurant and a bar and lounge. - The Restaurant overlooks the calm Caribbean sea in anterrace of elegant and refined decor. The "A La Carte" dinner menus change daily offering choices of fresh seafood and dishes combining classical French cuisines with the exotic herbs and spices of the Caribbean.
- The tastefully designed Bar and Lounge is just one of the many places for you to relax and enjoy cool tropical drinks. Coral Reef Club is infamous for its Rum Punch / Planter's Punch as being the best on the island along with its blended fruit cocktails such as the Banana Punch or the popular Fruit Punch. Bar service is available 24 hours.
Leisure & Wellness : The Coral Reef Club offers a Health and Spa Club with massage facilities, facials, hairdressing salon, spa treatments and fitness centre.
There are two mosaic tiled freshwater swimming pools set amongst the lush tropical gardens.
The hotel offers two tennis courts, sailing, snooker, watersking and windsurfing.
Guests can play golf at the Tom Fazzio designed Sandy Lane and also have access to the exclusive Robert Trent Jones Jnr. designed golf course - the Royal Westmoreland Golf Course.
Lush gardens with beautiful flowering plants lead down to a large bay, where the swimming is excellent. Coral Reef Club has its own watersports operation and offers complimentary windsurfing, snorkeling, waterskiing, kayaking and Hobiecat and Sunfish sailing. There is also a 30 foot catamaran called "Anna Kareena" and a raft for guests to enjoy. Scuba diving and deep sea fishing are also available at an additional charge. There is an underwater park situated just off the hotel - excellent for diving and snorkeling.
