Das InterCotinental Paris Hôtel ist ein historisches Denkmal aus der Zeit des zweiten französischen Kaiserreichs. Ursprünglich stand an dieser Stelle ein Kloster aus dem 17. Jahrhundert und an Stelle des jetzigen Haupteinganges befand sich ehemals das Refektorium des Klosters. Ein solches war es bis zur französischen Revolution und im Jahre 1792 verbrachten König Louis XVI und Königin Marie-Antoinette die letzen Tage ihres Lebens dort.
Das InterContinental Paris ist eine der "Großen Damen" von Paris. Eine kürzlich erfolgte sorgfältige Renovierung läßt dieses Denkmal Pariser Baukunst nun wieder in seinem alten Glanz erstrahlen, so daß es auch in Zukunft eines der beliebtesten Hotels der Seinemetropole sein wird. Das InterContinental Paris ist herrlich gelegen, nahe der Gärten der Tuileries -angelegt von Lenôtre im Jahre 1664-, dem Place Vendôme und dem Place de la Concorde.

The InterContinental Paris Hôtel is truly a historical treasure, dating from France's second Empire. The site of the hotel was originally a Capuchin monastery in the 1600s, and in fact, the hotel's main entrance is on the very site of the monastery's refectory. The building remained a monastery until the Revolution and in 1792, Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette spent some of the last days of their lives there.
