In the premises of a formerly monastery build in the XII century around an oratory in Arabic-Normanic style, the "Capella di S.Pietro a Tuczolo", there is now a first-class hotel floating between the blue sky and the turquoise waters of the Mediterranean:

The Hotel Cappuccini Convento, one of "Locali storici d'Italia",d in 1821 by Gregorio Vozzi, was inherited in 1937 by his grandson Giuseppe Aielli, count of Vallefiorita, and is still managed by the same family.
The terrace of the monastery is famous for the gorgeous view of the Mediterranean and Amalfi it offers and its panorama is undoubtedly one of the most portrayed in the world. This is the terrace, where Richard Wagner spent many evenings , entranced by the view. This house inspired also the poet Longfellow and extended hospitally to Samuel Morse. It s beautifully preserved and its corridors, the cloister and the loggias provide a true oasis of tranquility and peace. The guestrooms are located in the formerly cells of the Franciscan Capuchin monks. The lobby is small in size but with a particular atmosphere of refinement and austerity and in each part of the hotel it's possible to find massive antique furniture and prized works by famous artists on the walls.
Room amenities : All of the fifty guest rooms and two suites are comfortable and nicely equipped with bath or shower, air conditioning, sat-TV, radio, direct dial phone and hairdryer. They are plunged into the green and quiet of a large park and have been made out the ancient friars' cells faithfully restored to their original structure.
Dining : The hotel restaurant is rather large with an atmosphere particulary refined and serves regional and international cuisine, and meals are often taken on the bougainvillea filled shaded terrace, which affords stunning views across the bay.
Sports and Wellness : The adjoining solarium and a private small beach (lift) complete the facilities of the Hotel Cappuccini Convento. There are available all watersports at Amalfi and a public tennis court too.
