This is London's premier townhouse hotel, a gem of elegance and discretion. Set behind a facade of gray stone with neoclassical details, this structure, only 50 yards from Piccadilly Circus, was built in 1870 for English gentlemen doing business in London. After a radical renovation in 1990 and a remodelling in 2000, 22 Jermyn revels in its new role as a chic and upscale boutique hotel. It offers an interior filled with greenery, the kind of art you might find in an elegant private home, and one of the best-equipped computer centers in London on the 6th floor that guests may use for free.
Room Amenities : Each one of the 20 guestrooms (15 suites and 5 rooms) has been exquisitely designed, combining contemporary decor and fabrics with antique furniture to create a stylish and comfortable ambience. Hotel 22 Jermyn Street doesn't have the bar or restaurant facilities of Stafford or Dukes, but its rooms are more richly appointed, done in traditional English style with fresh flowers and chintz. Beds are luxurious with deluxe mattresses; bathrooms are clad in granite and equipped with deep tubs and showers, luxurious toiletries, and phones. If you like space, ask for one of the studios in the rear. Suite's sitting rooms can be used for business meetings or converted to bedrooms at night for families.
Dining : 24 hour room service available for breakfast and light meals. There is no restaurant on site, however many top restaurants are within short walking distance. The London buzzing restaurant scene is one of the city's great success stories -- 31 Michelin starred restaurants, more than any city other than Paris. More exciting is that apart from its marvellous Italian, French and Japanese restaurants, London has now gained a reputation for modern world class food embracing every nation be it Moroccan, Greek, Lebanese or what has come to be known as 'modern' British. The discovery and use of new tastes and textures has been largely achieved by a generation of young chefs who learnt their craft in classic kitchens, then built on this tradition. In the last 10 years, our eating out habits have changed enormously. The stuffiness of London's restaurants with its attendant dress code is for the most part a thing of the past. The emphasis now is on healthy food, variety, fun and value for money.
