Once a symbol of Cold War division, Berlin today is a link between Western and Eastern Europe. The Berlin-Brandenburg capital region lies at the very heart of an expanding European Union and offers many new and exciting opportunities for the future. In the united Europe of the near feature Berlin will be situated at the centre rather than on the outskirts. Berlin has at its disposal experiences both from the West as well as from the East. Berlin is becoming the juncture between East and West, the starting and ending point of both sides - it is becoming the East-West Metropolis.
Berlin is rich in signs of its history and its present, in inner city landscapes and urban closeness, in big city life, and in peaceful places. Berlin's traditional strengths have been culture, education, and the sciences. It is a place of intellectual energy and debate. Berlin's cultural know-how has been a constant part of its development.
When the five-star deluxe hotel The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin it doors on January 12, 2004, it will be yet another impressive new landmark in Germany's capital city, and an important addition to Europe's most contemporary urban plaza, the Potsdamer Platz. Standing just a short distance from what was formerly a section of The Berlin Wall, with a strategic location adjacent to the Sony Centre and Leipziger Platz, the luxury hotel will epitomize the continued economic and cultural resurgence of Germany's capital city.
An integral part of "The Beisheim Centre Complex", designed as a contemporary interpretation of a European city with blocks, streets and squares, The Ritz-Carlton is reminiscent of the golden age of art nouveau skyscrapers familiar in New York City and Chicago. Despite the inspiration of the golden age of art deco, the noted architectural firm of Hilmer and Sattler has created a design that is a fusion of modern trends. Even so, the architects also embrace a tribute to elements of classical European architecture. The sandstone exterior conveys both strength and light and will stand in contrast to the soaring glass and steel structures, which are already a Potsdamer Platz signature.

- Vitrum is the gourmet restaurant of The Ritz-Carlton, Berlin, featuring a creative European cuisine with Italian influences. The menu will be focused on fish and fresh herbs but also feature a daily changing offer. The restaurant itself will remind our guests of an antique private dining room in a Venetian villa. The extraordinary ambience of Vitrum is supported by inlaid Italian marble floors, old mirror covered columns, true antique Venetian cabinets and artwork, Murano-Glass chandeliers and oriental carpets. All china is handmade glass inspired by Murano & Burano - exclusively created for the hotel on the islands around Venice.
- Desbrosses is a traditional French brasserie from 1875 and offers breakfast, lunch and dinner. Originally, Desbrosses served as a millinery salon but over the years, the small boutique in the French municipality of Macon changed to a brasserie. Today, this original brasserie has been brought to live again after being dismantled and restored painstakingly. The restaurant has a separate entrance located at Bellevue Street. In the middle of the restaurant, an oversized "lucky pig" made out of old tiles and pieces of china attracts the attention of our guests. Whenever a guest touches the pig, he will be lucky in the future. Core of the restaurant is anshow kitchen with an old enamel oven from Bonnet, as well as the Boulangerie where all pastries are freshly baked. The smell of fresh croissants, baguettes and tarte tartin enlivens the senses of the guests with entering the restaurant already.
- During ten months of the year, the Desbrosses Terrace is the perfect place to enjoy the pulse of the Potsdamer Platz and relax in an inspiring ambience. The food and beverage offer is extended by a "Shisa Menu" – a water pipe menu with your choice of tobacco.
- The Curtain Club is the bar of "The Ritz-Carlton". It is the perfect place for all fruit spirit & cigar connoisseurs in Berlin to enjoy a relaxed evening. Named after the heavy brocade curtains, which separate the bar from the lobby, The Curtain Club is more than a bar
- The Tea Lounge is the meeting place of the hotel, offering a relaxed yet refined ambience. No matter if it is the cocktail before dinner or the classical afternoon tea – guests may enjoy the relaxing Tea Lounge during the entire day. Guests may enjoy the afternoon tea, which is inspired through the traditional English presentation at "The Ritz" in London. Freshly baked scones, sandwiches and petit fours are offered with a variety of tea. Live performed piano music underlines this classical ambience.
