Upon reng in mid-December 1999, after an investment of over 35 million US Dollars and nine-month complete restoration and renovation, the St. Regis Grand reclaimed its earlier status as one of the finest hotels in Rome and one of the best in the world. The St. Regis Grand is a focal point of Rome's diplomatic and political life, and plays host to many national and international dignitaries, heads of state, business executives and widely known celebrities.
The renovation retained the treasured glories of the past while adding modern touches to satisfy the most discriminating twenty-first century travelers. The public rooms gleam with Corinthian columns, frescoed ceilings, and oriental rugs illuminated by antique Murano glass chandeliers. Floors showcase designs of red and yellow marble, complemented by red and gold furnishings in the Regency and Empire styles.
The history of the St Regis Grand Rome started in London at a reception given by Cesar Ritz at the Savoy where the Italian president the Marquis of Rudini was invited as a special guest. The Marquis expressed his desire to have such a modern and luxurious hotel also in Italy and a few years later in 1894 - Rome - like Zurich, Paris and London experienced the end of the century splendor of the hotel business with theng of Romes first deluxe hotel.
Accommodation features: The St. Regis Grand features 161 guestrooms and suites, all luxuriously appointed in a combination of Empire, Regency and Louis XV styles. In the guestrooms, juniorsuites and suites, the Roman colors of red and gold again make their appearance. The details speak for themselves: gilded plasterwork, French and Italian furnishings, Murano chandeliers, lavish marble bathrooms, and oversize beds draped in the finest silks and damasks. Each room bears the name of its own original fresco depicting a Roman fountain, temple, ruin, or monument. Unique in Rome, all suites and two floors of VIP accommodations come with butler service around the clock. The butlers serve as personal assistants, valets, and concierges, even customizing the room setup on request.
All rooms, juniorsuites and suites are equipped with marble bath, bathrobe, slippers, air conditioning, satellite TV, minibar and safe. There are following categories available:
- The Superior Rooms are luxuriously und comfortably decorated.
- The Deluxe Rooms are larger than the superior rooms. They have a size of 37 squaremeters.
- The Imperial Rooms are very spacious, with a size of 48 squaremeters and they have a separate bwthtube and shower.
- The Juniorsuites have living- and bedarea.
- The Ambassador Suites have their own charm, partially decorated with antiques, and they are equipped with a high-quality TV and stereo system.
- The Designer Suites are decorated from a Roman designer. They are equipped with separate livingroom and bedroom, changing room, two televion sets, a high-quality stereo system and original paintings.
- The Royal Suite is very spacious with separate livingroom and bedroom and this suite is eqipped with all luxury and comfort.
Dining: A high-fashion look accompanies fine dining at Vivendo Restaurant, decorated in contemporary shades of silver, lavender, and burgundy. Imaginative interpretations of traditional Italian cuisine emerge from the kitchen of Chef Umberto Vezzoli.
Guests may also dine privately in the elegant Champagnerie Room or in Di Vino, a wine cellar with regional tasting menus. The Grand Hall Café provides a convenient meeting place for snacks, afternoon tea, or Sunday brunch, while Le Grand Bar mixes some of the best martinis in Rome.
