The Balbirnie House is located by the village Markinch, only an half hour equidistant from Edinburgh and St. Andrews, ideally situated to explore central Scotland.
One of Scotland's finest mansions, Balbirnie is a delightful Georgian house dating back to the year 1777. The house, of considerable historic and architectural importance, is surrounded by a beautiful 416 acre country park. The classic proportions of the building are reflected in the gracious and elegant reception rooms, particulary the magnificent Long Gallery, whose windows are overlooking the woods and sweeping lawns of the park, and the Orangery which is now the dining room. The luxury hotel has been winning awards for the excellence of its food, comfort and service for many years.
Accommodation features: The 30 guestrooms, including 2 single bedrooms and 2 suites, have been individually designed with period furniture, each is unique in character. The deluxe rooms come with a four-poster bed and their bathrooms have either separate shower and bath or Jacuzzi. The junior suite has a separate sitting area. All bedrooms offer bathrooms, hairdryer, bathrobes, heated towel racks, iron and ironing board, cable TV, radio, tea and coffee making facilities, fresh flowers and view over the gardens or the golf course. One room is equipped with handicapped facilities.
Dining : The excellent award-winning cuisine combines with both which are classic in approach and also those which are newly researched, often drawing inspiration from all around the world and seasonal specialities. The wine list of the Balbirnie House is one of the finest in Scotland with more than 250 wines from around the world. The list also features a separate section for "Recommendations from The Cellarman", regulary updated to include wines which have been choosen to complement dishes on the current menu. At "The Library Bar" the guest will find over 110 malt whiskies.
Sports and Wellness: 18-hole golf course and croquet. Ballooning, archery, clay pigeon shooting, fishing, fitness centre, horseback riding, indoor swimming pool, mountain biking, off-road driving, sailing, white water rafting and tennis courts are nearby.
