Das Relais & Chateaux Certosa di Maggiano, ein im Jahre 1314 erbautes Kartäuserkloster, liegt auf dem Land gleich außerhalb von Siena, nur 2 Kilometer von der berühmten Piazza del Campo entfernt.
Seit 1975 ist das Kloster nun ein Hotel. Die Certosa di Maggiano bietet ihren Gästen besondere Winkel, um sich in den verschiedenen Momenten des Tages wohl zu fühlen: Die "Sala Imperatori" (Kaisersaal) verdankt ihren Namen den 12 venezianischen Gemälden aus dem 18. Jahrhundert, die die zwölf Kaiser des alten Roms darstellen. Die Bibliothek ist eingerichtet mit imposanten Bücherregalen aus Erlenholz, sowie Sofas mit kostbarem Überzug aus Seide des Antico Setificio Fiorentino, einer traditionellen Florentiner Seidenweberei.
Zimmerbeschreibungen: Die 17 Gästezimmer und Suiten (die gleiche Anzahl wie früher die Mönchszellen)liegen auf drei Stockwerke verteilt und sind ausgestattet mit Bad/Dusche und WC, Bademantel, Toilettartikel, Haartrockner, Selbstwahltelefon, Satelliten TV und Minibar. Sie unterscheiden sich in Kategorie, Aussicht, Einrichtung und Dekor, haben aber alle einen gediegen eleganten Stil und einen erstklassigen Komfort gemeinsam.

Die Standard-Zimmer sind im Erdgeschoß gelegen und haben Twin-Betten.

Gastronomie: Das Restaurant "Il Canto" ist nach einem alten, zur Kartause gehörenden Bauernhof benannt, welcher noch heute Olivenöl, Obst und Gemüse liefert, Grundzutaten der Gerichte. Da das Hotel über verschiedene Räumlichkeiten verfügt, ist je nach Tages- und Jahreszeit ein besonderer Rahmen zum Essen vorgesehen:

Eine rustikale, mit altem Kupfergeschirr geschmückte Bauernküche und einer Terrasse dient als Frühstücksraum und für einfachere toskanische Mahlzeiten.
Unter dem Bogengang beim Swimmingpool kann man im Sommer in legerem Ambiente im Freien zu Mittag essen.
Das Abendessen dagegen wird je nach Jahreszeit in einem kleinen, stilvollen Speisesaal oder unter den Arkaden des großen Kreuzgangs serviert. Die Speisekarte wechselt mit dem Angebot der Saison. Zur Auswahl stehen Spezialitäten der italienischen Küche, zu denen man ausgesuchte italienische Weine und vor allem die besten toskanischen Rotweine genießen kann. Eine angemessene Kleidung ist erwünscht.

Sport und Wellness: Innerhalb des weitläufigen Parks mit Rebenzeilen und Olivenbäumen befinden sich ein Tennisplatz, ein Hubschrauberlandeplatz und ein beheizbarer Swimmingpool. Nahe des Pools kann zudem ein kleiner Fitnessraum genutzt werden. Mountainbiking, Jagen, Angeln, nahegelegener Aeroclub und Golfplatz in 7 Kilometern Entfernung. Sonstige Einrichtungen: Das Certosa di Maggiano verfügt über zwei Veranstaltungsräume für Konferenzen, Tagungen, Seminare und Empfänge für maximal 40 Personen mit audiovisueller Ausrüstung.

The Relais & Chateaux Certosa di Maggiano built in 1314 was a place designed for meditation and prayer. It is located in the countryside immediately outside Siena, a mere 2 kilometers from the famous Piazza del Campo.
In 1975 the Certosa di Maggiano was transformed into a hotel and became part of the famous Relais & Chateaux Association and offers its guests a variety of thoughtfully appointed spaces in which to spend different moments of the day. The "Emperor's Hall" is so-named for the twelve eighteenth-century paintings, portraying the twelve Roman Emperors, which line its walls. The Library, dominated by an antique alder-wood bookcase, also features sofas upholstered with fine silk created by the Antico Setificio Fiorentino.
Accommodation features: The 17 rooms and suites, corresponding to what were seventeen monastic cells, are situated on three floors and equipped with bath/shower and WC, bathrobe, toiletry, hairdryer, direct dial telephone, satellite TV and minibar.Differing in style, color scheme, view and furnishings, they share a common simple, refined elegance, in addition to all the modern comforts.

Dining: The Restaurant "Il Canto" takes its name from one of the centuries' old farms belonging to the Certosa, which even today produces olive oil and fresh produce, the ingredients upon which our dishes are based. The spaciousness of the Certosa allows our guests to enjoy their meals in varying locales throughout the day.

Breakfast is served in a historic kitchen, decorated in a rustic style with age-old tree branches, and in its adjoining patio.
During the summer, restaurant service is available at the colonnaded porch near the pool, for those who wish to dine casually.
Dinner, instead, depending upon the season, is either served in the small, exquisite dining room, or under the arches of the central cloisters. A wide selection of Italian specialities is offered according to season, and in accompaniment guests will find a careful selection of Italian wines, particularly Tuscan red wines. A certain elegance in attire, even if informal, is requested.

Sports and Wellness: The grounds are vast and among the olive groves and vineyards one finds our tennis court, helicopter landing, and a heated,air pool. Near the pool there is also a small fitness room. Horseback riding, biking, thermal baths, hunting, fishing, flying club and a golf course nearby.
Additional features: The Certosa di Maggiano boasts two meeting rooms for conferences, seminar and receptions for up to 40 persons inclusive of audio-visual equipment.
